Obituary for Shelby Craft (Mahaney)

Shelby Mahaney Craft, age 78, of 409 Craft Road, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at LewisGale Hospital – Alleghany in Low Moor. She was born August 1, 1938 in Iron Gate to the late William Henry and Viola Nuckols Mahaney. She was a retired cook for The Woodlands Health and Rehabilitation Center in Clifton Forge. She had also worked for the former H. O. Canfield and former Jane Colby companies and was a member of Longdale United Methodist Church. She enjoyed NASCAR and closely followed the driver, Kyle Busch. She was also a fan of the Washington Redskins and loved gardening. She is survived by her husband of fifty-eight years, Jack Dempsey Craft of Clifton Forge; a daughter, Shelly Cole of Clifton Forge; a sister, Peggy Bayne of Iron Gate; a brother, Barry Wayne “Butch” Mahaney of Iron Gate; a grandchild, Bailey Taylor; and a number of nieces and nephews.A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, June 9, 2017 at 11:00 AM in Central Advent Christian Cemetery, Clifton Forge with Reverend Lester Kennedy officiating. Interment will immediately follow. There will be no formal visitation. Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge is handling arrangements. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Clifton Forge Rescue Squad, PO Box 419, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
